Texas State seeks outstanding candidates for the Director of Faculty and Academic Resources position. Reporting to the associate provost, the director oversees human resources functions for over 2,000 faculty personnel at the university, advocates for services, policies, and practices that positively affect the division of Academic Affairs and university, and serves as an advisor to and partner with academic administrators and other campus stakeholders.

Job Duties: 

1) Provides oversight of human resource functions across the faculty employee life cycle, including recruitment, appointment, compensation, evaluation, promotion, recognition, and separation processes
2) Develops, supervises, and mentors a competent, productive, and customer-oriented office staff
3) Provides guidance to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and develops and implements university policies and procedures
4) Collaborates with academic administrators and other stakeholders on initiatives to enhance the quality, retention, and diversity of faculty
5) Maintains currency in the fields of human resources, higher education, technology solutions, and relevant policy and regulatory environments
6) Consistently exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality
7) Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

1) Bachelor’s degree
2) Extensive experience in human resources and personnel administration
3) Knowledge of best practices in human resources
4) Excellent written and oral communication skills
5) Proven record of developing and implementing new services and/or processes to enhance human resources operations
6) Commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence in human resources


Preferred Qualifications

1) Experience in higher education in human resources, personnel, or related function
2) Master’s degree, doctoral degree, or equivalent
3) Certification from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) or the HR Certification Institute (PHR or SPHR)
